Some words from our college guy.... Hafa Adai folks, welcome to another super cool monthly installment of Offisland.com's College Network. Throughout the past month we've tried to make some changes to the section so that it can be a little more user friendly. As always, E-mail me if you have any comments regarding the current setup, or for any other comments. So March eh? And at this point of the year it means many things for us students..... 1) Cramming and catching up for those slackers who are on the Quarter system. Yes yes, you know who are. In fact, what the heck are you doing reading this?! Sana Dai!!! Get off the Net, and get back to the books!! 2) Spring. Which means we can soon don the shorts and work on tanning our UV light deprived legs. I dunno lai, I guess I'm not into that white "reflecto" legs look. Especially when your arms and face are disproportionally darker. Kinda gives you that icky "wearing white stockings" appearance. 3) Outdoors. Yes!! Especially here on the East Coast. Snow and frigid temperatures keep you indoors during the winter. And as islanders, used to spending just as much time outdoors as indoors..... Well, you can understand how one reaches near insanity being cooped up in a 13 x 11 bedroom. 4) Others will mention basketball and baseball season. But living by the axiom that football is the only sport worth watching, I'll leave those people to themselves. And last but not least, St. Patrick's Day. Aside from wearing green and all the kinky pinching that happens on that day, for us Guamanians there is something deeper. According to legend St. Pat rid the snakes out of Ireland. Well, can somebody please buy this Saint a plane ticket and fly him from Ireland to Guam? I myself did not know how bad the problem was until attending a lecture in my Ecology class back at UC Davis. Guam's snake population was presented as a textbook example of how a foreign species can invade and dessimate the native wildlife of an island. Ai adai. Earthquakes, snakes, typhoons, and suicidal governors-- the only time Guam ever gets mainland attention. So St. Pat, please accept my personal invitation to our island. It's just as green as Ireland, and we love eating Corned Beef too... Although we Guamanians prefer it canned.... And we eat it with rice rather than cabbage. =) Good luck this month ... And I hope you slackers catch up!
