Down in
Inarajan
-
It's quiet
and sweet,
-
No hustle
or bustle
-
in the village
that sleeps.....
-
Passing
Merizo, Talafofo, Umatac
-
taking in
the beauty of the south,
-
Stop off
at the side of the road
-
to have
some sweet tuba in your mouth......
-
Then up
to Yona, Chalan Pago, Mangilao
-
where things
start to get busy,
-
Home of
a Shirley's and KFC too
-
seeing these
things makes you get dizzy.......
-
Down in
Tumon and Tamuning
-
the tourists
go by,
-
Planet Hollywood,
Hard Rock, and Tarza
-
makes you
say, "My, Oh My"......
-
Down at
Naval Station
-
there are
guards at the gate,
-
In Piti
you'll see
-
Taco Bell
and Pizza Hut to fill your plate.......
-
Let's not
forget Harmon, Dededo, and Yigo
-
with a mall,
and King's that you'll enjoy,
-
Also visiting
the relatives
-
will put
a smile on any girl or boy.....
-
So this
is it
-
I have to
muse,
-
Of most
of the happenings
-
in the Village
News..........
|
When
I arrived I looked in awe
at this
place I used to know,
Many
things have been built
a bounty
of places to see and go.......
My first
thought was "Wow,"
Then,
"What will I do?"
Go diving
or shopping
Oh boy,
I'll need to change my shoes.......
I look
up at the sky
while
the sun lights my day,
Then
to all the coconut palms
to and
fro they seem to sway.......
In the
wind I listen close
"Welcome
home," they seem to say,
"We're
glad you're back
and
please enjoy your stay"......
So off
I go to see the sights
and
visit uncles and aunts,
Maybe
while I'm here at home
I'll
be lucky enough to hunt.....
"Gof
Mungi Yu"
my stomach
said,
At Auntie
Lola's
homemade
butter bread.....
At Uncle
John's fiesta
nothing
on my plate but bones,
I thought
to myself and said out loud:
"Guam,
there ain't no place like HOME".......
