The Legend of the Two Guamanian Hunters
Early one morning, Pedro decided to go out hunting while his friend, Jose, slept.   Soon, Pedro came upon a clearing in the jungle and shot at what he thought was a pig.  He quickly shoved the dead animal into his bag and went home to show Jose what he had killed.

As the two cleaned the pig, they decided to give some of it to their friend, Maria, who lived in the dense jungle nearby.

They shouldered their booty and started on their way through the thick forest to practice their shooting to improve their skill and aim.
Jose saw a strand of hair blowing in the breeze and took aim, fired, and missed.  In an instant, Maria came out shouting, "What's the big idea, shooting recklessly like that? And what's in the bag you're holding?"  The boys were speechless with shock at nearly killing Maria, but were relieved that she wasn't hurt.

When she quieted down, Pedro told her that he and Jose had come over to give her some meat from a pig that Pedro had killed earlier and calmly proceeded to take out the carcass.  Maria, becoming excited, pointed to the dead animal and said, "you have a dead lion. And if we eat it, we will surely die."

I don't know how the lion became a pig, or how a pig could be a lion, but it has been said that from that day on, there have never been any lions on Guam. Although, wild pigs roam the jungle in great numbers.
